Almost 50 experts from science and industry used the two days to discuss opportunities, risks and practical solutions – from exoskeletons in production to data -driven process optimization to regulatory guidelines for AI in medical technology. The conference was made this year by the Technical University of Lübeck with the Laboratory quality management aligned.

Current trends and developments

The variety of contributions showed how broad artificial intelligence already shapes quality science. In medical diagnostics, for example, it was examined how image classification algorithms can be improved for the early detection of bladder cancer. Since there is often a lack of sufficient training data, a study by the TH Lübeck compares classic methods of data vacuuming with approaches based on generative adversarial networks (goose). The aim was to significantly increase the reliability of AI-based diagnoses.

How AI can not only promote efficiency but also health, showed the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences. Here it was examined to the extent to which exoskeletons in manufacturing processes not only reduce the physical stress of the employees, but at the same time increase the process quality. The growing importance of cyber resilience also found space: contributions from the TU Berlin and the Koblenz University dealt with the role of corporate culture, quality management systems and regulatory requirements such as the cyber resilience act.

Awards for outstanding contributions

As part of the conference, the conference president Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wen-Huan Wang distinguishes two young scientists for their outstanding work. Alexander Geist, lecturer at TH Lübeck, received a prize for the best presentation for his contribution Regulatory evaluation of mechanical learning development phases using the example of a blood analysis device.

Lennart Frederik Müller-Stein from the Technical University of Berlin with the Development of a method catalog for the use of data analytics in production.

The Society for Quality Science and the GQW 2026

For more than 30 years it has been bringing Society for Quality Science EV (GQW) Research and practice together. In 2025 this happened in Lübeck, where the connection between quality science, medical technology and data -based innovation offered many starting points for the regional research landscape. In the end, the conference president got to the point: The contributions were demanding and the response was great. My thanks go to the participants. Due to their lively discussions, we take many impulses that will work beyond the conference.

The next GQW conference 2026 takes place at the RWTH Aachen University instead of.
