how many zappers does his father tolerate?

It is very sweet of John de Mol that he keeps the dream of his son Johnny de Mol – his own talk show – alive, but how many zappers does the media billionaire tolerate? Isn’t half going too far already?

Actually, HLF8 only scored well when the whole of the Netherlands wanted to know how Johnny de Mol would react to the abuse scandal surrounding The Voice and the role of his family in it. So disaster tourism. But since the Voice riot has subsided, the viewing figures of his talk show HLF8 have stabilized again at a very low level.

Bad ratings

The ratings of HLF8 are really really bad. Take yesterday: Long Live De Liefde scores a generous 498 thousand viewers (13% market share) at seven o’clock, of which Johnny has 287 thousand (6%) left and when he is out of the picture, the viewers return en masse. Frank Visser subsequently attracted 1 million viewers (20%).

Johnny therefore ensures that no less than 42 percent of the SBS 6 viewers zap away when he appears on screen. Every other presenter should have made way for alternative programming long ago, but HLF8 just keeps on airing. And of course everyone knows why that happens.

Father-son relationship

However, the question is: how many zappers does channel owner John de Mol tolerate? Son Johnny has recently made it very clear that he wants to do HLF8 for years to come and apparently father John finds the current viewing figures acceptable to maintain the good relationship with his son. But what if the situation gets even more dire?

One thing is certain: if the merger between RTL and Talpa goes ahead and John’s vote is no longer decisive, then Johnny will of course be the kid. Until then, John seems to grant him this adventure.

Lubach talk show king

The talk show king of the Netherlands has recently been Arjen Lubach. Yesterday he managed to captivate more than 1.2 million viewers (32%). This is followed by Today Inside (789 thousand), Op1 (760 thousand), Khalid & Sophie (567 thousand), Jinek (517 thousand) and Time for MAX (451 thousand).

The prime time toppers are Floortje to the end of the world (1.6 million), This was the news (1.2 million), Mr. Frank Visser Does Uitspraak (1 million), Today Inside (789 thousand), Expeditie Robinson (729 thousand) and KVW (544 thousand).

Viewing figures

Programs that (also) did not reach the top fifteen viewing figures include Hart van Nederland (533 thousand), Shownieuws (387 thousand) and Big Brother (187 thousand).
