In GTST the podcast the actress hints that her guest role in the soap is running longer than originally planned.
Sudden Exit
Babette starred in the soap from 1990 to 1998 and made her comeback in 2015. But at the end of November 2021 it was announced that Babette van Veen and Joep Sertons had been fired at Good times Bad Times. They were then told that their characters Linda and Anton would emigrate from Meerdijk to Bonaire. “I wasn’t angry, more a bit offended actually,” Babette said in response to her exit.
Criticism of her departure
Fans also reacted angrily to their departure. They found the ‘rejuvenation’ of GTST needed nothing and hoped that Linda and Anton would come back. The makers did not seem insensitive to the criticism, because a few months after her departure Babette received a message from the producers.

Linda Dekker returned to the series on Monday, June 27. Just before the summer break, the character returned to Meerdijk to familiarize doctor Luuk Bos (Kees Boot) with the general practice that she ran together with Anton Bouwhuis until recently.
It remains a guest role
Linda was supposed to stay a week at most, but things are different. That’s what she tells GTST the podcast, in which she and newcomer Kees Boot look ahead to the coming season. She leaves tactically in the middle how long Babette will stay in Meerdijk: “I can’t say anything about that. I can say that it is a guest role. But, I’m not gone today or tomorrow.” It is now clear that she is still busy in the soap village until after the holidays.
