Nicolás Pasquali is the first Argentine to visit all the countries of the worldand his last stop was in North Koreaa nation marked by the absolute control of the State and the lack of individual freedoms. His testimony offers a unique vision of A hermetic country and strongly conditioned by political propaganda.

Pasquali crossed the border from China just six days ago and his visit generated international interest. According to his story, the experience in North Korea was completely different from that of any other country he has visited. “It’s like traveling in time and walking on a stage that remembers Hitler or Mussolini’s regimes. There is no margin of error, there is no free expression and you cannot travel freely where one wants, ”he said in Delta 90.3.

North Korea

During his stay, he was permanently accompanied by Four North Korean citizens who supervised each of their movements. “They treated us well, but always under their rules,” he explained. Organized visits included schools and theaters, where everything was impregnated with state propaganda. In schools, the children sang and danced holding flags while praising the leader Kim Jong-un.

The control level extended to the visual documentation that could be taken from the country. “I have videos that I still do not encourage them to publish because they are chilling. We were not allowed to photograph private houses, where poverty was evidenced, but the modern and technological buildings that wanted to show the world, ”he said. Before crossing China again, his cell phone was reviewed and any material not approved by the authorities was eliminated.

North Korea

One of the most shocking moments of his visit occurred in a theater, where he witnessed a show with 11 -year -old children who executed a perfectly synchronized choreography. “Behind them, a giant screen showed a ballistic missile exploiting in the air, in the middle of A staging that worked as a political propaganda”, Recalled.

Childhood indoctrination is one of the most disturbing features he could observe. When asking children about their future aspirations, most responded that they wanted to be military to protect the government and the leader. Besides, Any photograph of Ki Jong’s images should be taken with great care: “They cannot cut any arm or face, the image has to leave perfect or erase it.”

North Korea

The group with which Pasquali entered North Korea knew that his behavior was under strict surveillance. “If something went wrong, they could close the country again. They had all eyes on us”He said. Now, with an unpublished image and testimonies archive, he hopes to turn his experience into a documentary that portrays life within one of the most closed nations on the planet.
