“We receive forty phone calls a day asking if we still have a Mercieke left over.” It’s all hands on deck at De Moerenaar cheese farm in Veurne. Despite ten extra workers and eighteen-hour working days, they can barely keep up with the demand for the hyperpopular cheese of influencer Steffi Mercie (23). “We have never experienced this before,” says cheese farmer Thijs Dewicke.
