How can traditional craftsmanship and skills be transferred into the future? (English)

Exclusive: The European Fashion Alliance (EFA) organized the first Gran Canaria Summit in October 2022 together with the Cabildo de Gran Canaria. Various leading moderators came together to define initial actions that contribute to a shared vision and mission in creating a better and more sustainable future in the fashion industry.

During the Summit, EFA organized a series of videos featuring various panel discussions and interviews focusing on the themes of sustainability, positive change and emerging talent shaping the future of the fashion industry.

In this video, Eddie Shanahan (Council of Irish Fashion Designers), Jacqueline Farrell (Princes’ Foundation) and Erla Björk Baldursdóttir (Icelandic Fashion Association) discuss what can be done at European level to promote excellence in craftsmanship in the age of fast fashion receive. An important step for the fashion industry is to support and understand the importance of traditional craftsmanship and its value not only in terms of price but also in terms of culture.
