‘Very annoying’
The next morning, local residents reacted resignedly to the violence that took place in their street last night and Sunday evening. An elderly local resident takes a look at the house in question. “I am deaf in one ear, but I did experience those explosions,” he says. Yet he has no major concerns. “I don’t scare easily, but my wife does. This has made her a bit more anxious.”
A couple from the street says that they also heard the bangs of both explosions. “Very annoying,” says one of them. “Especially for the residents and their immediate neighbors.”
The two live on the other side of the circular street, but they don’t like the fact that explosions are going off in their neighborhood. “You hear it sometimes, but when it happens in your own street, it comes very close.” They also find the knowledge that teenagers are often used to set explosions a worrying development. “They are impressionable and cannot be prosecuted under adult law.”
‘They can go’
Another couple also finds the violence in their street unacceptable. “You’ll just live next door,” the woman says, shaking her head. “The house could catch fire and as neighbors you are in danger. No, it’s not fun.”
If it were up to her, the residents of the affected home would not return. “I don’t think it will suddenly be over,” she estimates. “It will stay that way. I think they can go.”
