Sources report The Telegraph that the hostage taker at the PI in Vught would be Corné H. That is the man who detained four employees for a long time in Café Petticoat in Ede on March 30, 2024.
Corné H., 28 years old at the time, entered the café at 5 o’clock in the morning with two knives in his hands. Three employees and one of the co-owners were present there at the time. The man said he had explosives in his backpack, with which he could blow up the entire street. The man held the four victims against their will in the cafe for hours.
Ultimately, at the insistence of the police negotiator, the man released the staff members. Later the co-owner was also released and Corné H. was arrested. On December 24, 2024, he was convicted of unlawful deprivation of liberty and threatening four people. The court declared the man less responsible and, in addition to TBS with compulsory treatment, also imposed a prison sentence of 9 months on him.
