A hopeful development: every year almost 1 percent survive their illness than the year before. On average it concerns a thousand extra survivors. The survival four years after the diagnosis has risen from 51 to 72 percent in thirty years. There remains a striking difference: young people have considerably better chances of survival than the elderly.
