The new sports hall in Hollandscheveld may be located at De Oosthoek sports park. There is still room to build an indoor hall next to the HHV korfball club.
Hoogeveen writes this in a letter. The municipality has been looking for a suitable location for a new sports hall for some time. The current hall (De Marke) is outdated.
Research shows that the spot at De Oosthoek sports park is the most suitable. The municipality owns that land. The korfball recently received new changing rooms and during the renovation space was saved for a possible sports hall.
That does not mean that the hall will actually be located there, but for the time being it seems to be the most suitable location, the municipality says.
Hoogeveen speaks of a win-win situation. In the summer the korfball club trains outside, but in the winter the players can use the hall. The municipality also thinks that the association and the sports hall can share parking spaces, changing rooms and a canteen.
The arrival of a new hall has been on the village’s wish list for some time. The current hall, De Marke, is forty years old and outdated. In winter, associations experience that there is not enough space to allow everyone to exercise. The sports hall also no longer meets certain requirements for organizing competitions.
It is still unclear when the new sports hall will be built. The municipality writes that there is currently no money for this. However, money is being spent to further investigate the plans.
Discussions are now also underway for the new football park to be built for FC Hollandscheveld. The municipality has found a location and is trying to reach a financial agreement with the landowner.
Exactly which location that is remains a secret. “This is so as not to harm our negotiating position,” the municipality says. FC Hollandscheveld was created after the merger between the football clubs SV HODO and VV Hollandscheveld.
A new football park cannot be built at the current location of the clubs. Those places are too small. Once these become available, Hoogeveen sees opportunities for housing construction there.
