FC Bayern mourns the loss of Artur Fichtel, a special honorary member with membership number 15. The Munich native, also known as the host of the Hacker tent, had been a member of the club since 1954. Club president Herbert Hainer finds emotional words.

FC Bayern says goodbye to a special companion. Artur Fichtel, a member since 1954, died at the age of 95. The Munich-based company announced this on Thursday. The funeral service for Fichtel will take place tomorrow, Friday, in Munich. The long-time companion of the German record champions was associated with the club for decades.

He had been a member of the club since April 3, 1954, and was most recently listed as an honorary member with number 15 in the FC Bayern membership list. Fichtel was also known as the host of the hacker tent at the Munich Oktoberfest – a role that further underlined his roots in the city and in the club environment.

Bayern President Herbert Hainer paid tribute to Fichtel in an obituary: “Artur Fichtel was a member of FC Bayern for over 70 years: every club wants loyal companions like him, because FC Bayern is much more than its professional teams – people like Artur Fichtel support our club. Our thoughts are with his family, relatives and friends.”
