Honda has updated the XL750 Transalp. The 755 cc parallel twin retains its sporty character but now has an even smoother power delivery. The electronics are more usable and there is an additional customizable riding mode. On the road it excels in comfort and handling but it doesn’t hold back even on dirt roads. The quantity and quality of the range of original accessories continues to grow
When it comes to exploration and freedom, the Honda Transalp has always had a say, since the end of the 80s, the period of its debut. It was remembered as a versatile V-twin; today it is still powered by a twin-cylinder but in-line. Honda has reinterpreted this myth in a contemporary key, making it drivable and fun on the road, without forgetting its adventurous DNA.
Motor
—
The beating heart of the XL750 Transalp is the now famous 755 cc parallel twin, capable of delivering 92 HP at 9,500 rpm and 75 Nm at 7,250 rpm. With a bore and stroke of 87 x 63.5 mm and a compression ratio of 11:1, the engine combines high-rpm performance with robust mid-range torque, making it perfect for both twisty roads and long straights. The Unicam distribution, the 270° crank mechanism and the new injection system guarantee even smoother delivery which makes everything easy, on any terrain. There is also a 35 kW version, designed for those with an A2 driving licence.
Design
—
The XL750 Transalp presents itself with a renewed look in the front area. The new LED front light unit integrates much better with the fairing, while the fairings have soft lines; a choice that goes against the current compared to the abuse of edges to which we are now accustomed; a choice that makes this Honda pleasantly different. With asaddle height of 850 mm21″ tangential spoke wheels at the front and 18″ at the rear and a ground clearance of 210 mm, the Transalp can tackle any adventure. Despite its off-road appearance, it is at its best on the road, especially if you purchase the more padded saddle, significantly more comfortable than the standard one and also perfect for long-distance touring.
Technology
—
The Transalp is equipped with a series of advanced technologies designed to improve the driving experience. The system throttle-by-wire allowed us to develop four pre-set riding modes (Sport, Standard, Rain, Gravel) and two customizable riding modes. The HSTC traction control and ABS can be deactivated (the ABS only on the rear) but every time you turn the key off you must follow the procedure to deactivate them. The 5 inch TFT dashboard it has clear graphics and it is finally possible to modify the electronic settings via a compact and easy-to-use left block. Worth noting is the presence of the Honda RoadSync connectivity system, which, by connecting to the smartphone, allows you to make calls, send messages and manage navigation.
How is it going
—
On the road, the XL750 Transalp is a pleasure to drive. The new Showa suspension calibration (with 43mm SFF-CA upside down fork and monoshock combined with the Pro-Link system) offers a perfect combination of comfort and stability. With a travel of 200 mm and 190 mm respectively, the set-up is ideal for tackling both asphalt and dirt roads but without exaggerating. The balanced chassis combines with a responsive engine, giving an engaging ride. The Transalp, which is among the best in its category on asphalt, is not afraid of mountain bends or mixed sections, quickly adapting to the rider’s needs thanks, certainly, to the electronics, but above all thanks to a spot-on chassis. Even when the road ends, the Transalp proves to be up to the task, defending itself with honor on dirt roads, where, however, it is better not to ask for the moon.
Accessories
—
Honda has thought of everything to make the Transalp the perfect travel companion. The range of accessories developed by the Spanish Montesa factory includes a high adjustable windscreen, spacious and waterproof side bags, heated grips and fog lights. THE packages Adventure, Touring and Urban allow you to customize the motorbike to satisfy every need, from the city to the most extreme trips.
