Homophobic violence continues to increase in Belgium. In 2025, Unia received 311 reports of discrimination and violence based on sexual orientation. In addition, trans, non-binary and intersex people made almost 500 reports of transphobic hate speech and discrimination. Unia and the Institute for the Equality of Women and Men report this. According to the organizations, these figures are “just the tip of the iceberg”.
