A fire broke out in a house on Groningerstraat in Assen early this morning. According to a bystander, a store behind the house caught fire. The fire then spread to the home.
The roof of the house was left damaged. Thanks to the efforts of the fire brigade, worse was prevented. It is unclear how the fire could have started
Damage was also caused to a home in Meppel, probably because fireworks were set off. Photos show that a window of an apartment on Thorbeckelaan has been shattered. It is not known whether the resident or residents were home.
