Homeless due to the arrival of a new residential area: Tamara has to leave the bungalow park

You may have seen her call on social media: Tamara Hermans (40) is looking for a home. She now lives permanently in a bungalow park in Heiloo, where she is registered. But after the summer, the bungalows will be demolished and a residential area will be built. “Sorry that I will be without a home, because houses are being built here.”

Tamara indicates in her call that there is no urgency. “Two years ago when I divorced, I made agreements with my then husband about co-parenting. I have the idea that I am therefore not urgent enough now,” says Tamara.

The municipality of Heiloo states in a response that shared parenthood does not play a role and that the municipality has passed on a positive urgent advice to an independent committee. Yet Tamara is left empty-handed and has not been given any urgency.

Reaction municipality of Heiloo:

Unfortunately, we regularly have to disappoint residents when they request urgency. It is difficult to assign urgency because of the strict rules. These urgency rules have been determined regionally. In the case of the person concerned, she did not meet the criteria set.

The municipality has nevertheless given a positive advice to the regional emergency committee, because young children are involved. The urgency committee has not granted an urgency based on the criteria.

Urgency means that someone is seen urgently on the housing market, so that they can get their own house sooner. If there is no urgency, you will have to wait longer for a home, which can lead to distressing situations, especially with the high housing shortage at the moment.

She rents the bungalow every six months. “After this six months, everyone has to leave,” explains Tamara. Her neighbor has left for Apeldoorn. “There was nothing around here for him.”

For herself, moving to another region is not an option because her children go to school in the area. Moreover, they are half of the week with her ex-husband in Heerhugowaard.

Tamara has a budget of 1000 euros per month, but in this market that doesn’t seem enough. “They often charge three times the rent as a condition, and even though I work full-time, I don’t earn it,” Tamara says disappointed.

What she also encounters is that one of her budget is being filled with alimony and allowances. “I can’t count this one,” she explains.
