Strong unity in the second half

After about an hour of play, the hosts hit the road to victory with a double strike: Immanuel Pherai scored first (59′), only two minutes later Kaufmann scored his second goal.

With this success, Braunschweig slipped to 17th place in the table at least until Saturday afternoon and handed Greuther Fürth the red lantern of the bottom of the table. “I’m not saying that because we won today, but we’re an absolutely great team”said two-time goalscorer Fabio Kaufmann. “We learned a little bit in this league and needed a little longer. But if you keep calm and remain closed in such a phase, that can also inspire you. But that was just the first step today. It can’t have been the end be.”

Initially, the injury-plagued Nuremberg had determined the game. They were superior in midfield. Defensively, however, there was no stability whatsoever. Goalkeeper Christian Mathenia looked bad at Kaufmann’s first goal in the short corner. After the 2:4, the rebellion was unsuccessful, Lino Tempelmann hit the crossbar (79th).
