The medal dream is alive. After the ceremony for legend Dirk Nowitzki, the German basketball players started the home European Championship with an inspiring victory.
In front of 18,000 fans, a national team led by Captain Dennis Schröder, playing like unleashed, beat title candidate France impressively on Thursday (September 1st, 2022) in Cologne with 76:63 (38:31) and took the first very important step towards the final round in the hunt for precious metal.
Thiemann best German pitcher
Johannes Thiemann shone in a rousing team performance as the best German shooter with 14 points, Guerschon Yabusele scored 18 points for the French. The Germans got off to a perfect start in “hammer group” B thanks to the victory.
