Holstein Kiel’s Hauke Wahl and St. Pauli apparently reach an agreement

From Holstein’s point of view:

Unbelievable… First Kinsombi to HSV and now this. Seems to be the trend with us to switch to local rivals as captain and with the most important player.

While you could at least understand Kinsombi’s change from a sporting point of view, I’m just confused here. A rise in St. Pauli is possible, but in my opinion quite unlikely. Even if you get relegated, I don’t think you have any chance against the Bundesliga team.

So that leaves a change within the second division, which will bring him up a few places in the final table, but where he should have a completely different standing within the club. With the “new challenge” he was looking for, I would have expected a little more than playing 100km further south at a roughly comparable sporting level and continuing to live in the same city (my last stand is that election even now already lives in HH).

He will certainly be remembered positively as the captain for many years and not least because of his shoulder goal in 90+5 against Bayern in Kiel, but losing a captain to a direct rival again is not good for the blue-white-red heart. If that’s the case, I hope he’ll be more successful than Kinsombi was back then.

From Pauli’s point of view:

Of course it would be a very good transfer, especially if Medic were to leave. Fazliji doesn’t deliver what one had probably hoped for, Nemeth hasn’t yet been able to show how valuable he is, Beifus and Dzwigala are always felt to be uncertain factors when I’ve seen them. KOing the Mets is certainly an option if you continue to rely on him so much, but there’s little to nothing wrong with a good, and more importantly, dependable, seasoned second division centre-back, especially on a free transfer.
