Hollywood Hank: Kollegah mourns rap colleagues

Hank Hollywood has died at the age of 38. Kollegah remembers him with a joint photo.

After Hollywood Hanks’ former label Rapz Records confirmed that the 38-year-old German rapper died unexpectedly in Spain about three weeks ago, Kollegah reacts to the report.

Poser photo as a condolence message

The rapper shared a photo together on his Instagram story and wrote, “RIP Hank.” The two musicians pose in the picture with a serious expression – Kollegah with his arms crossed and Sven Pingel, aka Hollywood Hank, with a kind of hatchet in his hand and smudged make-up on his face.

The picture probably dates from around 2007, when the two were active in the “rap battle arena”. There aren’t many pictures of the late rapper – a few years later he withdrew from the music business.

The “Rap Battle Arena” was an online platform on which audio rap battles were organized and held. Artists like Casper, KIZ, the 257ers and Juju also demonstrated their skills there. The website was discontinued in 2020, but Kollegah and Hollywood Hank were among the site’s veterans.

Finch Asocial also mourns Hollywood Hank

Finch Asocial also published a post on Instagram about Hollywood Hanks’ death and expressed how important the rapper was to him for his own musical career. “One of the best German rappers has left us. His music has influenced me like no other. He was one of the reasons why I started with battle rap back then, because no one punched as anti-socially and technically demanding as Hank! Without his music, Finch Asocial would never have been created,” says his social media post.
