Lady Gaga will contribute a song to the soundtrack of upcoming action flick Top Gun: Maverick starring Tom Cruise. On Twitter, she already revealed some details about the title “Hold My Hand” and announced that it should be available from May 3rd.
Lady Gaga worked on the song for years
“Top Gun: Maverick” will be released in German cinemas on May 26th as a sequel to the 1986 film “Top Gun – They fear neither death nor devil”, also starring Tom Cruise. Cruise embodies Captain Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, who now, 30 years later, works as an instructor in the Navy.
The film was originally supposed to be released in 2019, but the start was pushed back several times. These circumstances gave Lady Gaga the time to work on her contribution to the Joseph Kosinski production for “years”.

A “layered” song about closeness and understanding
In her post, she explains how her feelings about “Hold My Hand” have changed over the long period: “When I was writing this song for Top Gun: Maverick, I didn’t realize how complex it was about the heart of the game.” film, my own psyche and the reality of the world we live in,” she writes.
Gaga also reports on the meaning behind the text. Her goal was to “make a song [zu] who shares our deep need to be understood and to understand others”. She wanted to musically express the “longing for closeness” in a world in which “we feel so far apart”.

Finally, the 36-year-old singer describes the song as a “declaration of love to the world, during and after a very difficult time.” She had long wished to finally carry this message to the outside world and at the beginning of May the time had come.
Hold My Hand is a collaboration between Lady Gaga, BloodPop and Benjamin Rice.
In July, Lady Gaga, who has also established herself as an actress in “House of Gucci” and her own film “A Star Is Born” in recent years, comes to Düsseldorf for a concert. Her second album together with jazz legend Tony Bennett was released in 2021, and she also released an anniversary edition of her 2011 album BORN THIS WAY last year.
