Ron-Torchen Hoffmann and Jasmin Fejzić were once competitors for the place in the goal of Eintracht Braunschweig. They are now a well -coordinated team.
When today’s undisputed number one, Ron-Thorben Hoffmann, came to Eintracht Braunschweig in the summer of 2022, he first had to stand behind. In Jasmin Fejzić, Hoffmann, who was trained at FC Bayern Munich, among other things, faced a seasoned second division goalkeeper and was set after surviving Corona infection.
In an interview with the online portal “Liga-Zwei.de”, Hoffmann remembers his first weeks in the Löwenstadt. “I came to Braunschweig as a young goalkeeper. He was the captain and a club legend here,” explains the 26-year-old today. “I was the challenger.”
During this time it also crept between the two final men of Eintracht, Hoffmann confesses. “It wasn’t always easy between us,” he says in retrospect. “We had our differences and also got together.” Such friction would be part of a football team, he adds.
When Fejzić flew off the field at the away game against Karlsruher SC in early April 2023-and thus deep in the second half of the season-the hour finally hit Hoffmann. Before that only three league games for the BTSV, he did not miss a minute in the remaining season and was from then on as a clear number one.
The relationship between Hoffmann and Fejzić did not suffer from this. On the contrary: “Jasmin supported me unconditionally from that time,” explains Hoffmann.
Shortly afterwards, Fejzić ended his active professional career. In the meantime, as a goalkeeper coach at Eintracht, he is working closely together with regular keeper Hoffmann. The BTSV only extended the contract with the 39-year-old at the beginning of August to 2027-to the delight of ex-competitor Hoffmann.
“We need each other,” says Hoffmann. In particular, the meticulous work of Fejzić leaves a lot of impression with the BTSV goalkeeper. “I really have to praise him because he is doing really well.” It was not without reason that the association extended the contract with the ex-goalkeeper.
And: The new season was not only successful for the duo. Eintracht won both the away game against 1. FC Magdeburg (1-0) and the first home appearance of the new season against Greuther Fürth (3: 2) and currently occupies fourth place. The next task is waiting for the Karlsruher SC on Saturday at Karlsruher SC. Hoffmann and Fejzić also want to cheer together as well as possible.
