Dennis Geiger was once considered a great German talent, but was never able to meet the high expectations in the long term due to many injury problems. Now the 27-year-old appears to be moving away from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim for the first time in his career – according to Sky, the move to Aberdeen FC is imminent.

Geiger is to be loaned to Scotland until the end of the season in order to get the match practice that he was no longer able to enjoy at Hoffenheim. After the former U21 national player played 25 games for Kraichgauer last season, coach Christian Ilzer did not even call him into the squad this season. Unlike in the past, when Geiger missed around 150 games for TSG due to injury, this year the performances were crucial.

With the newcomers Leon Avdullahu and Wouter Burger as well as the established forces like Grischa Prömel and Andrej Kramaric in the center of midfield, Hoffenheim is playing a strong season and is on course for the Champions League. For Geiger, only the stands remained and now a move abroad should provide relief. German sports director Lutz Pfannenstiel has been working in Aberdeen since November and had already guided Afeez Aremu from 1.FC Kaiserslautern, a player from the 2nd Bundesliga, to seventh place in the Scottish Premiership.
