The German mid-engine takes over the 25-year-old striker from Denmark from OGC Nice, which rented him out to Sevilla in the first half of the season. His stay in Spain was cut short due to lack of playing time. In the first half of the season, the striker made only four appearances in La Liga. Dolberg did not score during his adventure in Spain. With that he added another disappointing chapter to his still fledgling career, which started very successfully at Ajax.
In his debut season at Ajax, Dolberg scored sixteen goals in 29 Eredivisie matches. In addition, he played a leading role in the excellent Europa League season that his team experienced with six goals. Partly thanks to his six goals, Ajax reached the final, in which Manchester United was ultimately too strong. After that strong year, things went less well for Dolberg, partly due to injuries. In 2019, the striker moved to Nice, where he has not yet reached his Ajax form. The French club took over Dolberg from Ajax for more than 20 million euros.
