Hoefkens saw Club fight for the 1/8th finals: “All or nothing in the end”
“In the end it was all or nothing and we had to fight for the result”, the T1 from Bruges reacted.
“It could go either way today,” Hoefkens said at the press moment afterwards. “I was satisfied with the first fifteen minutes, then it got a bit more difficult. In the second half we had the momentum but then AtlĂ©tico took over again after their substitutions. In the end it was all or nothing and we had to fight for the result. “
“For the same money, we lost 1-0,” continued Hoefkens. “Then you can say: ‘We go home satisfied and have done our best’. But we have to get rid of such reasoning. That was our biggest step.”
The main goal is with qualification for the eighth finals, but that does not mean that Hoefkens is no longer ambitious. “Group win? Not a factor at the moment. But we want to win every game and if that shows, we’re going to win the group.”
