Hockey players beat Argentina again via shoot-outs | 1Limburg

The Dutch hockey players also won their second game against Argentina in the Pro League via shoot-outs. Just like Saturday, the match between the two superpowers in Malden ended in 1-1.

The Orange took a bonus point via shoot-outs (3-2). Kyra Fortuin from Maastricht played along.

Identical scenario
Both duels with Argentina at the Union complex near Nijmegen went according to an identical scenario. On Saturday, Frédérique Matla opened the score from a penalty corner, Yibbi Jansen did that on Sunday. Argentina tied the score on both days via a tip-in from María Granatto from a penalty corner.

In the shoot-outs, the Orange squad was clear on Saturday and goalkeeper Josine Koning kept two Argentinians from scoring. A day later, Matla, Kyra Fortuin and Xan de Waard were missing, as were three of the opponent’s players. After Koning stopped another shoot-out after the regular run of five, Pien Sanders decided the game in favor of the Orange squad. Sanders had also already taken advantage of the first shoot-out.

Argentina leads the Pro League with 38 points after fourteen games. The Netherlands, which played four games less, is on 23 points. The reigning world and Olympic champions won five times and lost one match, against India last month. Four matches were won via shoot-outs.
