Do you have to travel across the country from Zoetermeer to celebrate Christmas with your parents-in-law? Please pay attention, because during the holidays the NS trains run according to an adjusted timetable. This way you can be sure that you will be on time before the gourmet set is turned on.

During the Christmas holidays it is nice and quiet on the trains, because… according to NS fewer people travel. That is why fewer trains will run during rush hour on some routes from Monday 22 December to Friday 2 January. So grabbing the travel planner is not an unnecessary luxury.

Timetable during public holidays

On Christmas Day and Boxing Day, the trains run according to the Sunday timetable, so two sprinters per hour run from Zoetermeer in the direction of The Hague and Gouda. The rush hour train between The Hague and Gouda Goverwelle does not run.

On New Year’s Day the trains run until 8 p.m. They only continue until 10 p.m. between Schiphol and Amsterdam Central Station. Finally, make sure you don’t have to leave too early on New Year’s Day, because most trains don’t leave until 10 a.m.

For the night owls

On New Year’s Eve you can take the night train again from 1:00 am between Rotterdam, Delft, The Hague, Leiden, Schiphol, Amsterdam and Utrecht. Along the way, these trains also stop at Amsterdam Bijlmer and Amsterdam Sloterdijk. In addition, night trains also run between Amsterdam and Haarlem and between Amsterdam and Zaandam on New Year’s Eve. The sprinters will ride from Zoetermeer again from 10 a.m.
