HLN reporter Karolien Vandersmissen in Canada: “Remote area where only people of indigenous origin live” | Stabbing Saskatchewan

According to our journalist, the news in Canada is closely followed, but there is certainly no question of panic because the two suspects are still at large. “I don’t think it’s going that fast at the moment,” she testifies. “Canada is a very big country and it happened in a pretty remote region. I think people here are following the news, but I don’t think everyone here is locked up right now.”

Saskatchewan is a Prairie province in western Canada, but still quite centrally located. “I live in the far west near Vancouver and it’s at least 2,000 miles from where I live. It concerns extensive grasslands, with a lot of agricultural land,” she says.

The events took place on a reservation. “These are tracts of land reserved for the indigenous community and administered by the local communities to which they have been allocated. It is a village like any other, but only people of indigenous descent live there.”
