On Thursday, HJK will fight for a place in the last qualifying round of the Europa League. Azerbaijan’s great club Qarabağ won the opening match played a week ago at home 2-1, and now Toni Korkeakunnsen the crew preferably needs at least a two-goal win.

If the Blue and Whites win by one goal, the battle will possibly continue until the penalty shootout.

This is the second spare cartridge of this Euro season. HJK could have already secured their third consecutive group stage if they had beaten Molde in the Champions League qualifier.

However, the Norwegian giant was stronger in the end, and the Club moved down a notch, i.e. to the Europa League qualification.

If Qarabağ falls, the Helsinki club will at least be in the group stage of the Conference League. Of course, it would then still be possible to repeat last autumn’s Europa League adventure.

If, on the other hand, Qarabağ continues with this pair of matches, HJK will still have to rely on the last spare cartridge, i.e. the last qualifying round of the Conference League.
