“If he had not exposed me to that danger, I might not have filed a report.” TV (36) from Bruges has been acquitted by the Court of Appeal for the rape of a 17-year-old girl. At first instance, according to the judges, it was clear that the man in his thirties had sex with the girl and that the term ‘rape’ also applied, because he had concealed his HIV infection. The man appealed against the two-year prison sentence and requested an acquittal on appeal, while the public prosecutor’s office just demanded a heavier prison sentence.
