Historic semi-final final station for Gijs Brouwer on ATP Houston

Gijs Brouwer has been eliminated in his hometown of Houston. The tennis player from Venhuizen reached the semi-finals of an ATP tournament for the first time in his career last night. Frances Tiafoe, the number fifteen in the world ranking, was too strong after two sets: 6-4, 6-1.

Before his semifinal, Brouwer reached the quarterfinals of an ATP tournament twice. That was in Houston (2022) and earlier this year in Rotterdam. Brouwer rises to place 116 in the world ranking due to his performance. With a win over Tiafoe he would have been 101st in the world.
