For Sackers, this feels like ‘mustard after dinner’. “There have already been reports three times”, but that could not prevent the wave of vandalism. “We are remote. This made it easy for them to enter the site every time at night.”

Historical club kept hope

Football club FC Hilversum, founded in 1906, was a household name for 119 years. It was considered a major club in the region and even played professional football for a while.

But the club has found it increasingly difficult financially in recent years. In the summer of last year it was finally decided that there would no longer be football at FC Hilversum.

Nevertheless, the club remained registered with the KNVB, in the hope that a restart would be possible. In the meantime, the remaining members were busy setting up a new team and looking for new sponsors.

This makes the decision to permanently close the doors of the sports park to members like Sackers even more sad.
