Of course you could say that players like Coutinho, Hazard and Mane have drastically lost and players like Kane, De Bruyne or Neymar just got older and are logically (extremely) worth less today. Nevertheless, I think the many market values of ~ € 150 million around the year 2018 are illogical and almost ridiculous.
It’s sadly a fairy tale that Mane has dismantled. As everyone thinks, he would shoot the league into the ground here. If you look at his scorers over the last 3 years, you can see that he has outperformed with us. 20/21: 28 scorers in 3894 minutes (all 139), 21/22: 20 scorers (PL only, because I don’t see the Africa Cup including qualification as the same level) 2825 minutes (all 141). With us 19 in 2384 minutes (every 125). So I can’t understand the excitement about him as he delivered what was expected
World class to rate a player based solely on their scorers. Mane was very strong at Liverpool and probably much more valuable than he has now become at Bayern. And not just because of his age. Nevertheless, I never see him at €100 million or more. In its prime, certainly at €80-90 million. Currently more like €25-30 million.
If we hadn’t played such a relatively poor season, nobody would have complained about Sane’s performance. But since Neuer got injured and we lost our complete defensive stability as a result, the season just went like that and you look for a guilty party and that’s not Mane, he delivered exactly the same as before at Pool. But if you listen to some of those responsible, I don’t know in which parallel world they live, Mane was never at the level of Robbery, which was sometimes 70 minutes per scorer, which was by far Mane’s best season (19/20). 27 scorers in 2755 minutes, i.e. over 102.
Mane used to be important for pool, similar to Robbery for us, but has significantly reduced in the last 2 years, the fact that the clocks tick differently here and you didn’t notice that is not Mane’s fault and if Brazzo then says, that Mane shot everyone to the ground before, then that’s nonsense, he was never a Messi or Ronaldo, not even at Robbery’s level, but you act as if he shot Pool to the titles single-handedly. At Pool it was a very good combination of Salah, Mane, Firminho and a very strong defense with van Dijk, Fabinho and Alisson, similar to what we used to do with Robbery + Manzu, Gomez or Lewy and a strong defense with Boa, Hummels, Lahm , Martinez and Neuer.
For me it’s a bit in the direction of Griezmann, who also scored at Atletico back then without end and Barca spent a fortune to replace Neymar. But what you haven’t seen is that both are totally different types of players. Neymar strong in dribbling and in 1vsX situations and Griezmann, who almost never goes into 1vs1 and scored almost all goals from counterattacks, situations that Barce almost don’t have.
Similar to Pepe at Arsenal, who previously scored 22 goals in Ligue 1 and had 11 assists, but if you look at the goals, then it felt like half were 11s and the rest were counterattacks, which the man can’t do much else except run fast (Similar to Davies) you simply overlook the scouting completely and spend 80 million…
Mane gave you what he had done before, no more and no less. At least I can’t understand why a good player is now the most expensive purchase in the club’s history (depreciation per year, which is around 38 million).
