The enthusiasm at his arrival is great; The king does not visit school every day. When he arrives around the clock of two hours, the Wilhelmus sounds from the throats of many curious students. When he leaves again, a student manages to score a selfie with the king. “Because you ask so sweet,” Willem-Alexander adds.
Only an hour before the time came, Rector Wessel van de Hoef announced his arrival among students and teachers. Since then, many students could no longer be kept. “Some colleagues thought he would say that we would all go away for a weekend. But the arrival of the king is also fun,” says one of the teachers.
The Healthy School
Central during the visit is this afternoon the Healthy School, of which Oscar Romero is one. The idea behind this method is that a healthy lifestyle contributes to better performance. “It is a recognition that you get and has five certificates. We all have them,” says Rector Wessel van de Hoef.
“We started it in 2015 and make students aware of all facets of being healthy. And that is not just about healthy eating, but also about smoking or sufficient exercise.”
