There is no end in sight to HIFK’s plunge. On Friday, it was Tappara’s turn to punish the people from Helsinki in the Nokia Arena with a score of 4–1.
For HIFK, the match started positively when Daniel Mäkiaho took the visitors to a 1–0 lead. The goal ended the team’s 386-minute dry streak in away games.
A glimmer of light in the gloom of autumn Olli Jokisenkin to linger at the press conference.
– Yes, it was a big release. However, it was our first away goal this month. Many games were played that could not be done. Of course, it brought us energy and belief that we can play for the result, Jokinen stated.
The joy was short-lived, however, because Tappara came in at the end of the first period and took a 2-1 lead at the beginning of the second period, which it never relinquished.
Jokinen admitted that HIFK kept the goalkeeper in the match by Hugo Alnefelt for the help of the saves, but still praised the contribution of all the players.
– Maximum performance from everyone, even the most experienced players.
The loss was HIFK’s sixth in a row. The league’s jumbo team has collected 15 points from 19 matches.
On Saturday, league leader Ässät will visit Helsinki.
