Jan Slagter is no longer welcome in the talk show Media Inside of presenters Gijs Groenteman and Marcel van Roosmalen. They are furious. “I really thought: yes, yes, you dirty dirty gore Jan Slagter.”
Actually, Jan Slagter, the boss of Omroep MAX, was supposed to join the new talk show Media Inside last summer. However, he canceled after he was criticized in the program. Then Jan was ridiculed in every episode. “They’re just a few suckers,” the broadcaster responded a few months later.
What does Jan say?
Jan was confronted with this argument last Friday in the talk show of Eva Jinek. “No, well, guys, fine, it’s a fine program. I think Van Roosmalen… I heard that column from him this week, I thought it was fantastic. (…) I have a bit more trouble with Mr. Groenteman, who really likes to hear himself talk.”
What does he have against Media Inside? “I thought it was a serious media show. I really thought so. That is missing from the public broadcaster. And then I saw the program and then I was taken aback there and Dionne Stax was this and that was that. I thought: I’m not going there at all. I’m not going to where they’re pissing people off.”
Measure taken
Media Inside is not fancy television, Jan thinks. “All kinds of other presenters of ours were also taken into account. I thought: I’m not going to sit there at all, I don’t like that at all. You (Leonie ter Braak, ed.) have been sitting there too… And laughing… I thought: I’m not going there at all, you know.”
He continues: “Then it really became a thing for the gentlemen, but anyway: I thought it was fine. There are also 200,000 people watching, what are we talking about? It’s a no-brainer.”
Eva hysterically: “Hoooooooooo! Pickles!!! John!!!!”
Jan: “Yes, no, can I say that? They think something of me, I think something of them too.”
Dirty, dirty and gross
At the end of the conversation, Jan showed that he is quite open to joining Media Inside. However, presenters Gijs Groenteman and Marcel van Roosmalen no longer want that, let them know in their podcast Another Day†
Marcel thought Jan was very false with Jinek. “I thought: yes, yes, you dirty dirty gore Jan Slagter, are you playing us off against each other? Do you think it is so easy to stir me up against Gijs, that on my way to the theater I will actually say to Gijs: ‘Jan Slagter thought you talked a lot, but he thinks I’m good, it’s all up to you? .’”
No invitation
This is ridiculous, Marcel thinks. “It doesn’t work that way at all. We immediately called each other and drew a line. Who will definitely not be invited to Media Inside next season?”
“We’re not going to clean the chair for Mr. Slagter here because Mr. wants to come by, are we? As far as I’m concerned, he won’t be welcome all season. We wanted him and now I don’t understand why we wanted him. I’m really like: stay away man! Stay away with your bathing talk.”
