This photo is for the bin! Almost eight and a half weeks before the end of the transfer phase on September 1st, Hertha publishes the first team photo of the new season.
The picture shows 26 players and six goalkeepers. But it is already clear that the squad will still change significantly, the inclusion has little to do with the team that wants to fight for promotion from the end of July. And by the way, a jersey sponsor is still missing.
Why does Hertha produce such a disposable photo? Like the individual portraits of the players, which were also shot, the picture is a media requirement of the DFL. There should be a new team photo in the coming weeks.
Then many of the current Hertha faces should be gone, and some talents will have to give way. For Suat Serdar (26), who is already missing in the photo, there are said to be interested parties from Istanbul. Dodi Lukebakio (25, still on vacation) is to be sold soon.
Keeper Alexander Schwolow (31) should go. There are interested parties for keeper Oliver Christensen (24). But it won’t stop there. There could be at least ten changes in the photo.
