Hertha waving 3 million euros for loan player Ascacibar

By Roberto Lamprecht and Paul Gorgas

Hertha is currently fighting to stay up in the league – the next construction site is due in summer.

Eight professionals are currently on loan, their future is open. Good for the clammy Berliners: A professional is about to be sold that should bring in millions.

BZ learned: Santiago Ascacibar (25) convinced those responsible at the loan club Estudiantes de La Plata. The Argentina club wants to sign the clearer in the summer. According to BZ information, the purchase option in the amount of three million euros is to be drawn.

Ascacibar, who was brought to Hertha by ex-coach Jürgen Klinsmann (58) for 10 million euros in winter 2020, was initially loaned to Cremonese in Italy in the summer. However, homesickness continued to plague him there. In January, the clubs agreed to a loan to Ascacibar’s youth club Estudiantes – and family man Ascacibar returned home. Good for Hertha, as it now shows.

And other loan players could make Hertha’s cash register ring:

► At Krzysztof Piatek (27/Salernitana) and Omar Alderete (27/Getafe) also waving millions. Both are regular players, but are fighting against relegation. According to BILD information, there should be EUR 9 million for Piatek, and EUR 7.5 million for Alderete according to the purchase option. Myziana Maolida (24) is also gaining momentum at Reims, the French are said to have a purchase option for a low million sum.

► It becomes more difficult to sell at Keeper Alexander Schwolow (30/Schalke), Deyovaisio Zeefuik (24/Verona) and Luca Wollschläger (20/Essen) – they are currently only second choice in their loan clubs.

► Hertha homegrown Linus Gechter (18) is scheduled to return from Braunschweig in the summer.
