Coach Felix Magath (68) celebrates a big anniversary with Hertha (15th place) on Sunday in the relegation cracker against Stuttgart (16th place)! For Magic Magath it is the 500th Bundesliga game as head coach!
Curious: Magath is only on the bench in the stadium for the 499th game against Stuttgart. Nevertheless, this is his 500th time as boss. Reason: Because of a corona infection, Magath led his team to a 3-0 win against Hoffenheim by phone from the hotel.
Magath is only the seventh coach after Rehhagel, Heynckes, Ribbeck, Schaaf, Latteck and Funkel to reach this impressive coaching mark.
Magath on the anniversary: “These figures mean little or nothing to me. The fact that I now theoretically have the 500th game in front of my chest is not a rating for me. I like doing what I do. That’s why I did it so often. And I want to coach a few more games…”
Oops! Does Magath (contract ends after the season) reveal that he would like to extend in Berlin?
Magath cool: “At the moment I’m just focusing on the important game against Stuttgart. There is still enough time to deal with it when the Bundesliga season is over…”
