Managing Director Thomas E. Herrich leaves Hertha BSC at the end of the season at his own request. This was announced by the second division team on Wednesday. Constructive discussions about the future realignment of the association were preceded by a statement. The successor is currently being prepared, in particular the name Jonas Boldt is circulating around the Olympic Stadium.
“Over two decades, he has significantly shaped Hertha BSC with great responsibility, technical expertise and personal commitment. His loyalty and his achievements deserve our greatest respect. After the Presidium had decided to further develop the structures of Hertha BSC for the upcoming challenges and to make important personnel changes, Tom Herrich offered his actions in response to responding to President Fabian Drescher is to support the sense of the association.
Supervisory Council leader Torsten-Jörn Klein added: “The Supervisory Board thanks Tom Herrich to have stabilized our Hertha in an extremely difficult situation. This was an outstanding performance that cost great effort. That is why the supervisory board approved the joint request of Tom Herrich and the Presidium after early contract termination.”
“For me, Hertha BSC is much more than a job – it is home, passion and a matter of the heart. When fan, member and Herthaner, it was my greatest drive to advance the strategic realignment of Hertha BSC, to put the club sustainable and to leave an ordered field. The past three years were hard, it was mainly about the economic survival of Hertha BSC. Fighted employees and my team and made the turnaround, ”said Herrich, who has been working in different functions for Berliners since 2005. In 2022 he became managing director.
Now the moment has come “where I have to think of myself and my family for the first time. The past few years have cost strength. So now I have to recharge your batteries to be ready for new challenges again.” A few days ago, license manager Andreas Neuendorf had already declared his resignation.
