Hertha BSC: Jean-Paul Boëtius back in training after testicular cancer surgery

Date for return still open

Hertha BSC’s Jean-Paul Boëtius has returned to the pitch after undergoing testicular cancer surgery. The 28-year-old midfielder trained individually, as the Berliners announced on Thursday. However, a date for his comeback in a blue-white game has not yet been given. During a urological examination in mid-September, the Dutch summer addition was diagnosed with a tumor in the testicles. He did not need chemotherapy after the surgery.

“Hey guys, Djanga there, I was back on the pitch. I want to thank you again for the support and the good news. And I hope to see you again soon at the stadium,” said Boëtius in a short video message. Back in June, Marco Richter was the first Herthaner to have a testicular cancer operation, but he also didn’t need any chemotherapy – in contrast to Bundesliga colleagues Timo Baumgartl from local rivals 1. FC Union and Sébastien Haller from Borussia Dortmund. Baumgartl has already celebrated his comeback, as has Richter, Haller will be out for a while.
