Trainer Schwarz without a wish list

After Eintracht Frankfurt and VfL Wolfsburg have been linked with Ludovic Ajorque in the past, the next Bundesliga club are now set to have RC Straßburg Alsace’s goalscorer on their list. According to the “L’Equipe“Hertha BSC is interested in signing the 28-year-old – but the transfer fee is likely to be a problem.

According to this, the Ligue 1 club wants 15 million euros for Ajorque, which would make it the most expensive departure for Strasbourg alongside Mohamed Simakan (2021/22 to RB Leipzig) and Youssouf Fofana (2019/20 to AS Monaco). In the ranks of the Berliners, Ajorque would also make it into the top 5 of the most expensive additions, level with Jhon Córdoba (2020/21 from 1. FC Köln). Without the departure of numerous sales candidates, Hertha’s coffers will remain comparatively empty.

Despite this, the French sports newspaper sees the chances of Ajorque playing in the Bundesliga next season as good. The challenge in Berlin should appeal to the player himself. The 1.97m forward, who joined Strasbourg from Clermont Foot 63 in 2018, where he remains under contract until 2024, has been the Racing Club’s top scorer every season. Last season there were 12 goals and eight assists in 38 games, for a total of 50 goals in 138 games.

Ajorque candidate at Hertha BSC? Trainer Schwarz without a wish list

But the Hertha squad is still too big, even if it is far from complete. With 34 players, the Berliners fly to the training camp in England on Tuesday. Not included: sales candidate Omar Alderete (25; interest from Spanish clubs), the injured Jessic Ngankam (21) and Kelian Nsona (20) and the excluded Mesut Kesik (19) and Marten Winkler (19).

The fact that the squad could only take on its final form at the end of August is “a normal process,” emphasized new coach Sandro Schwarz in the “kicker” interview. “And I was already aware of that in advance – also that the squad is quite large. It is all the more important to communicate clearly with the players and to convey to them that the group will still change.” Schwarz avoided pressure on sporting director Fredi Bobic in terms of transfers: “How much money is already gone or still there is not mine Theme. The association provides the options. And within the scope of these possibilities, we want to create the best possible squad structure. I’m not one to walk around with a wish list.”
