Herman van der Zandt, Joost Prinsen’s successor as presenter of the quiz ‘With the knife on the table’, responded to Prinsen’s death on Monday. Van der Zandt spoke about his predecessor in the NOS Radio 1 Journaal: “He was a treasure trove of information, anecdotes and stories, and I think it is a great pity that he is no longer there.”
Van der Zandt, born in Breda, got to know Prinsen well when he took over the role as presenter of ‘With the knife on the table’: “He was a very special man. When he walked in, you immediately started paying attention to him. For me he was a great person.” According to his successor, Prinsen always paid attention to the smallest details during the quiz and he knew a lot: “It was always a pleasure to be around him.”
Joost Prinsen, born in Vught, was one of the creators of ‘With the knife on the table’. He also presented the quiz for eight years. In the spring of 2015, Van der Zandt temporarily took over the role as presenter, due to family circumstances. In September of that year it was announced that Prinsen would not return as a presenter. Van der Zandt became the new permanent presenter.
In April 2023, Prinsen returned briefly as presenter of ‘With the knife on the table’. He replaced his successor for two weeks because Van der Zandt was ill. Prinsen was a guest in the thousandth episode of the program. Sjoerd van Ramshorst has been presenting the program since last year.
