Iltalehti’s jury tested eight alcoholic, interesting new mulled wines.
Iltalehti’s jury blindly tested eight alcoholic novelty mulled wines and gave them school marks of 4–10. The clear winner was Lignell & Piispanen Loimu 2025. Hartwall’s Valkia Talviomena took second place with only half a point difference.
1st place: Loimu 2025 75 cl, 15 vol% Lignell & Piispanen

Manufacturer’s description: Loimu 2025 Vintage mulled wine gets its aromatic and rich taste from berries ripened by a nightless night. Its taste is highlighted by lingonberry, blueberry and rowan berry, selected as the natural product of 2025.

– There is clearly a lot of fruit here.
– Smells good. I would love to buy this. A safe choice for everyone.

– The smell of fried apple oats.
– Appropriately sweet. Nice, warming spiciness.
– Soft and appley scent, appropriately mulled-like and Christmassy.

– Somehow a homemade impression, I would like softness.
– It smells like standard mulled wine with added clear liquor. I liked a lot.

– If I were to advertise this, the ad would have all the generic nerd elements.

– Sauna-warm walk. Not found in the feel of mulled wine.

– The taste is even cognac-like.

Manufacturer’s description: Åre mulled wine is based on high-quality Tempranillo red wine, lightly seasoned with cardamom, ginger and cloves. Exceptionally dry red wine mulled wine.
Opinions of the council:
– The taste escapes to something, you can’t get hold of it.
– Coffee-like and bitter taste. Not sweet at all.
