Herenboeren Hof van Rhee from Assen won the public prize in the election of Agricultural Entrepreneur of the Year. Manager Henk Boer received the prize.
“Fantastic, great fun”, was the first reaction of Boer. He also knows what they are going to do with the corresponding check for 2500 euros. “A GPS on the tractor and a new greenhouse.”
Strawberry grower Jan van Genderen from Royal Berry in Bemmel won the main prize and a check of 12,500 euros.
Herenboeren Hof van Rhee has been around for five years now. It is a cooperative of 250 members and 500 mouths, which purchases once and then pay a monthly contribution. For that they receive a vegetable package every week.
The cooperative grows around 50 types of vegetables and 10 types of fruit. The person who wants that can also get a meat package. Cattle, pigs walk on the company and there are laying hens.
We work without fertilizer and without pesticides. The cultivation plan is set in such a way that the right plants are grown one after the other. In addition to Henk Boer, a part -time farmer and lots of volunteers work on the 20 -hectare site.
