One of the most influential hardcore bands in recent decades now wants to say goodbye to the stage once and for all: Refused has already announced their final tour in autumn 2024. The Swedish band around singer Dennis Lyxzén has decided to put down the instruments after a last concert tour. “Refused are damn dead – and this time really,” said the band in their official statement. Now the US appointments also followed some European shows.
Front man Dennis Lyxzén recently suffered a severe heart attack, which has already been planned for 2024. “It shaked all of us,” explains the band in their statement. “We want to do this last run as long as we can.”
With their album “The Shape of Punk to Come”, which was released in 1998, refused has established themselves as one of the pioneering bands of the Post-Hardcore. Despite the separation of the band at the time, the album became one of the most important works in the genre.
Her biggest hit from the album: “New Noise” was recently heard several times in the “Emmy Award” award-winning series “The Bear”. “The Shape of Punk to Come” was released on November 8, 2024 and contains not only the album itself, but also a tribute album with cover versions of bands such as Idles, Quicksand, Zulu and Gel.
The band has been active again in recent years and published two new studio albums with “Freedom” (2015) and “War Music” (2019). Now it should be finally over.
