Flared rye breads end up in Finns’ shopping carts most often. Paulus Pitkälä

There are a huge number of different rye breads in Finland. Even nationally, the selection of rye bread is wide, but when you add the production of even smaller bakeries, it’s true that there is plenty to choose from.

Today, Saturday, Rye Bread Day is celebrated. It is also our national dish, so it is appropriate to celebrate it on Kalevala day.

According to national nutritional recommendations, you should eat at least 90 grams of whole grains per day. Rye bread is the single most important source of whole grains for Finns, and in addition, rye products provide about a quarter of the day’s total fiber.

The respondents to the survey commissioned by Fazer chose bread as the product that makes it easiest to follow the whole grain recommendations in practice.
