The new color scheme of the castle’s celebrations startled the spectators. Iltalehti inquired about readers’ opinions on the reform.
One of the talking points of the evening at the first Linna party hosted by president Alexander Stubb was the renewed lighting.
At the Independence Day reception this year, the lighting was darker than before, with a reddish tint. In the past, Independence Day has been celebrated in the Presidential Palace with brighter lights.
The reform divided opinions even when it was fresh on social media. Others commented on the new lighting as too dark and strange, while others were delighted with the more atmospheric tone.

Iltalehti also inquired about it from its readers. Most of Iltalehti’s readers were of the opinion that the renewed lighting for Linna’s parties was a successful solution. About 85 percent of those who responded to the survey were in favor of the new lighting.
There were about 330 no answers about the success of the lighting, while there were close to 1,850 yes answers.
The answers were reviewed on the evening of Independence Day, a little before midnight.
The mood lighting shocked the viewers, who commented on the matter to Iltalehti on the Facebook page.
– The new atmospheric lighting immediately evoked positive feelings. Less clinical and warmer, among other comments.
– In my opinion, the lighting is beautifully atmospheric
– Great lighting, candles and decorations

– The lighting was soft and atmospheric, but distorted the color of the costumes. A little more relaxed atmosphere, no stuffiness. The flowers are especially beautiful.
– Much more relaxed and a warm feeling, when before it was so stiff and the lights shine directly in your face that you can’t see who’s shaking hands there.
– The lighting is just atmospheric, warm, and not cold at all.
– Wonderful atmosphere and lighting
– The lighting is really good. Instantly a more festive atmosphere than soft light. The orchestra is also a good addition, we continued with the reforms.

However, the reforms did not win over everyone. In particular, Iltalehti’s Facebook was criticized for distorting the colors of the festive costumes due to the renewed lighting.
– The lighting was really bad. You faked the colors of many suits. It’s a crazy reform, they said on social media.
– I think the lighting was a little too dim! It was already quite a rowdy atmosphere when the TV turned off! It was quite a party! Maybe the ball started to taste better. Dignity was far away!
– The red lighting is horrible. I had to reduce the red on the TV to a minimum.
– The lighting is terrible and too dimly lit. No further.
