Rai Vloet is immediately suspended by Heracles Almelo. The football club has received new information about the fatal accident on November 14, 2021 and the involvement of the football player from Schijndel. On its own website, the club states that the board and management are ‘deeply shocked’ about the fact that Vloet drank too much and drove too fast.
“As it has become known to us today, Vloet may have not only driven too fast that night, but also drank too much. Both are absolutely unacceptable,” says general manager Rob Toussaint in a statement on the Heracles Almelo website.
“In the weeks and months after the accident, Vloet stated to us as an employer several times that he had not driven faster than the permitted speed limit of 130 kilometers per hour, and had not drunk more than two alcoholic drinks. This is now incorrect. information, Heracles Almelo has taken all its decisions in good faith and as a good employer to date.”

“If we as a club had known this essential information earlier, we would of course have decided otherwise, in the interest of both the victim’s family and everyone else involved, and never let Vloet train and play along,” continues Toussaint.
“We deeply regret that the family also has to experience this, on top of the traumatic accident that happened to them. The club will contact the family again in the short term. Our thoughts continue to go out to them.”
