HERA United is playing in the Premier League for the first time this season and has achieved two points in the first five games. This puts the team in tenth place.

This weekend’s opponent, Ajax, occupies second place with thirteen points. A difficult task for the home team. Yet the atmosphere remains positive within the HERA selection. Player Puck Donker says: “We are going to do our utmost.” Teammate Samya Hassani adds: “We’re going to make the best of it, that’s one thing for sure.”

Last time in 1978

The last city derby in Amsterdam competitive football took place on March 19, 1978, when Ajax won 5-1 against FC Amsterdam in De Meer Stadium. That match was played between two men’s teams.

Ajax player Renee van Asten is looking forward to tomorrow’s match: “A city derby is always nice and close.” Goalkeeper Regina van Eijk emphasizes that it is also just about points: “It’s nice that it is in Amsterdam, but on the other hand it is just another match.”

Many supporters expected

No fewer than 1,800 supporters showed up during HERA’s first home match. A full house is also expected next Sunday. Van Eijk: “I personally really like that. I’m really looking forward to it. If a lot of fans come, it’s fun for us to play.” There is also enthusiasm at HERA. Donker says: “That is of course the best thing there is, to entertain your supporters.”
