Saskia Vanhalakan in the short documentary, Heinonen talks about the very special contract he signed. He is one of the few Finns who has signed a whole-body deep-freezing contract.

Heinonen is a customer of Europe-based Tomorrow Bio. When Heinonen dies, his blood is replaced with antifreeze and his body is slowly cooled to liquid nitrogen temperature. The final disposal of Heinonen’s body is not a casket, but a dewar tank. The same situation applies to all members of Tomorrow Bio. They also have a place in the foundation’s premises.

– Every medical procedure prolongs a person’s life. Cryonics is exactly the same thing: it aims to extend the life span of people with the help of medicine.

All of this may sound like a science fiction movie, but the underlying belief is that things may be very different in the future. Theoretically, deep freezing, or cryonics, can mean that as technology develops, these people, or bodies, could be brought back to life again and again. At least that’s what science aims for.
